What is Aeternity?

Aeternity (AE) is a blockchain technology which aims to improve upon the competition by being faster, more secure, highly efficient and globally scalable. Similar to Ethereum in its implementation the technology revolves around smart contracts; building and running applications on the blockchain. Aeternity introduces state channels which allows applications to run off-chain and only communicate with the public blockchain if a dispute occurs.
